Interaction with the Environment
An effective Environmental Management System begins with an understanding of how an organization can interact with the environment.
For Tallinn Shipyard, as for one of the few industrial enterprises in Estonia, the most important points are reduction of the negative environmental impact at all stages of the production process, the ecological well-being of the water area, as well as the coverage of the environmental aspects of its activities.
Tallinn Shipyard defines its environmental goal to reduce pollutant emissions. It is for these purposes, in cooperation and with the financial support of the Center for Environmental Investments (KeskonnaInvesteetringute Keskus ehk KIK), modernized the system for the collection and disposal of flush water. The program of production control in the field of waste management has been improved, and instructions have been introduced for the interaction of the parties when working with the flushing water system at shipyard projects.
Compliance with environmental quality standards is one of the most important aspects for the shipyard, which is confirmed by the ISO 14000 certificate, an International Standard containing the requirements for the Environmental Management system, according to which the company is certified.
Tallinn Shipyard continuously invests in various environmental protection projects, improves methods and carries out preventive measures in order to preserve and improve the environment.
