BLRT Grupp performed overhaul of ship in severe weather conditions
BLRT Grupp’s Repair Yard in Turku completed the overhaul of the vessel Nordic Orion, belonging to the Denmark company Nordic Bulk Carriers.
Repair works of the main engine turbine, auxiliary diesel generator were completed merely in eight days together with inspection of devices and routine servicing of rescue equipment.
«In spite of very inclement weather conditions while wind gusting to 23-25 m per sec, all operations were successfully completed, docking ship included. Amount of work turned to be quite extensive, but all specialists coped with the assigned task on time. Beyond the overhaul, the vessel’s paintworks in full amount were completed and the client remained satisfied with its quality», - explains Nikolai Hohlov, project manager of Tallinn Shipyard.
Bulker Nordic Orion was constructed in 2011 by shipbuilder Oshima Shipbuilding (Japan). Vessel with overall dimensions 225 m in length, 14,2m in width, has 1А ice class. Maximum velocity can be gained by the dry-cargo ship is 13,5 knots, average velocity is 9,9 knots.
