Tallinn Shipyard has a dedicated steel shop with is a full set of process equipment for mechanical cutting and bending of the sheets and profiles, such as bending machines, roller-presses, guillotine shears, wide range of welding machines and of course other ancillary tools necessary for steelwork. A large fabrication area for assembling panels and blocks, and the overhead cranes with weight-lifting capacity of 10 t (2 units) are its added advantage and allowed to handle large quantities of steel in a very short time.
Tallinn Shipyard employs some 50 professional and experienced steel fitters and welders, in case of necessity supplemented with numerous subcontracted workers available locally. Our welders are tested and certified by a minimum of 3 major Classification Societies. A qualified and well-experienced work preparation team handles construction drawings and work processes based on inspection of vessels, owners’ specifications and tender requirements.
All steel repairs are carried out to IACS Standards. Welding processes (MIG/MAG, TIG, E-hand) supported by numerous welding procedures endorsed by International Classification Societies.
